heart game write-up oh my goodness words.
The game was over here, and I will start by thanking everyone who played or wanted to play, because I had fun getting to dabble with this. I hope everyone did, too. You all are the best. ♥

The set-up of this game was largely the same as it was last time, in that the hedge maze was the primary place of action, gates held specific areas, and so on. There was a lot of chaos and disorder throughout! This is not necessarily bad in all cases, though there were areas that should not have been such a mess, but most of it was the breaking down of old habits and thought processes. You have to break in order to rebuild, except there was very little rebuilding happening, just a lot of destruction. The maze being cut down is Vincent trying to be less secretive and sly; it is obviously a huge hack job, and still can be difficult in places. A new addition that I realized was vastly missing in the previous run was Vincent's anchors as they were which appeared as paving stones underneath the gravel in the maze. Each balanced the other while others were less important than others, essentially forged from a blending of the two next to it. Since I learned from last time, the more important ones were cast in black diamond, it is a real gem and it is pretty damn cool!, which is nigh impossible to break, while the lesser ones were cast in gold which is more malleable.
To go back a bit, the room that was set behind the veranda was previously a room created for Gilbert and intimates only. It was left open to everyone, but it was not very appealing as Vincent is not one for letting or welcoming people in easily. The veranda itself is his thinking space where he keeps an eye on the general situation without delving into the nitty gritty as it were. The books were Vincent's own thoughts, absent of emotion or affection, while the table had various ornaments that were previously important to him. The chaise was a mess, because he doesn't sleep. There are no stuffed animals, because he kicked that habit awhile back . . .
Dormouse, Demios, and Doldum were blocking off one half of the maze. While Demios and Dormouse previously were within and still have their own gates, with the addition of Doldum, they have spilled out and claimed more of Vincent's mental space as it were. Dormouse would let people skirt by or under him, but they would just be very sleepy. Demios caught anyone who came close in her threads, and Demios beheaded whoever was silly enough to come near her.
Again, the order of the gates were important. As Vincent views his self as mostly complete, the circle was finished, so the gates nearest the entrance were of the highest priority while the gates that were further away were less and less important. With the presence of the chains, they were essentially sacrifices or what he did not keep his mind focused on.
No, I am going to ramble . . . Well, okay . . . Previously, Gilbert's gate was a dark place of turmoil and suffering on all ends. If you went close to it, you would hear a child crying. It was also in second position, but it has since moved up into first position and improved by a lot. The Vincent that you encounter here is his resistance to change and distrust manifested. Originally, he held a lot of power and control. Now, he is a loser who is weak and naps on Gilbert, because he has absolutely no power. Vincent is open to change, willing to let others influence him, and so on . . . This is just a stubborn hanger on, because it is Vincent, okay. He is a stubborn ass.
Aather had two gates, surprise! One was an aspiration which Vincent held closer where Peridot was a wonderful place, Iolite was very close and intimate, and he held agency with Personae and the like, as seen with Three. She was there as the personae that he works most deeply with, but she also functioned as an independent agent, free of Vincent's own trappings, which is how he views her. Good luck getting anything out of her, though. The second gate was the reality of Aather which is a highly segregated Iolite, an inaccessible Peridot and Onyx, and no movement or ability to change.
Home could be reached as Dormouse is a great guy, but it is mostly null. The chess pieces that were set originally according to how Vincent viewed the events back home are all knocked over, except for the white king which is Gilbert, since he won canon . . . Okay, everyone else is screwed, but Vincent believes in Gilbert. The books that are missing are reflective of the fact that no one knows how everything ended and that Vincent has not taken his legacy memories. The books are all of the memories that Vincent does have, but some are thrown around because they aren't great memories . . . Not by a longshot . . .
From the other side, Yuri held a gate in his own right, because he has a lot of authority with Vincent, nearly equivalent to Gilbert but more than anything else. The key for this gate was with Gilbert for obvious reasons, and the room was empty aside from the plum association that always stuck with Yuri, his book, and the various testaments that Vincent had created.
Elliot and Leo held a gate, but Elliot was the star of this particular one. I am not sure what to say on this as it was fairly explicit? I will say that despite Vincent's misgivings in Elliot's direction, he has a rather good grasp on his younger brother which is why Elliot brought up points that even Vincent won't acknowledge. Leo was hidden away in a room that was locked. If anyone went hunting for him, they would have to talk to a door, but he mostly did not want to be bothered.
Lastly, there was Jack's gate . . . I don't know if I am happy or sad that no one got here. So, it was a very nice room where Jack had a younger Vincent sleeping on his lap. Vincent would not wake up, as part of his lack of control or leverage in that relationship, while Jack would be his Jack self. Really, he holds a lot of points for being a very important relationship for Vincent and a building block in how Vincent views himself with others, though not in a paranoid way.
As for the center of the maze, it was the Abyss. Point blank that was it. If you were brave or foolish enough to jump in, you would either end up being chopped up by the toys or Alice. This is based on Vincent's memory rather than being the real Abyss, though seeing the lights was a hint at what Vincent sees all the time, oh my god, you guys, it is annoying. If you wandered away from the toys into an empty part of the Abyss, you would find the True Heart if it was willing to be found. (Generally, yes, if you were in the Abyss, it would make an appearance.) It was Vincent as a child, because he is still working from that point in his life and trying to build back up from it. He had didn't have as great of a facade or use as many deceptions to speak with others, though he was slightly reserved as is Vincent's ever cautious way.
Jesus, what a lot of words! Okay, time to talk about changes—!
From the veranda and the room, Neji and later Itachi with some help from Obsidian did a fabulous job cleaning everything. Neji also dug around in the jewelery box of feelings and took out whatever was rotting. So, Vincent may be slightly more open towards others while his sleep schedule may be slightly more regular, though still not long or prone to naps. He can also focus and think more clearly, less distracted with the chaos. Red balasam symbolizes impatient resolves and a desire not to be bothered. As they were removed, Vincent may be less prickly towards talking with other people and give up some of his less sensible resolutions of late. Snowdrop symbolizes hope and consolation which translates into exactly what you think in Vincent's emotions. He doesn't have as much hope for his situation nor is there any consolation in his situation. But, hey, he has absence and affection left.
Serin shuffled the books around in rainbow order, so Vincent may think of Lambda when he is talking to Neji and other such accidents until he sorts that out.
As for the maze, any interactions with the Chains does not change Vincent nor are they changed by them as they are their own entity. Doldum will be disappointed at Vincent for losing a prey, and Demios will be pleased to have had some fun while it will bears its fangs in Obsidian's direction. Obsidian did handle one of the paving stones well by saying that social presentation was for his own sake, his mother's, and his associations. This may not . . . Work well with Vincent as those are two out of three people that he does not care for, but it is a start.
Nunnally quickly found Gilbert and made him her bitch for the duration of the heart game. While Vincent won't confuse the two, he will realize that there is quite a lot that Gilbert does not know or understand, so he may be more open in that direction. In the same area, Kaoru pitched a fit with Vincent, but he got Vincent's most resistant side to accept the situation with Elliot which is an excellent job while also putting Vincent's hackles up towards Kaoru which is not as good of a job.
Kamui spent a lot of time talking to True Heart which was not quite inclined to listen, but it did not outright refuse him. So, the hazy acceptance between Vincent and Kamui lives on while he does realize that Kamui has a lot of concern when it comes to Vincent. He may be more inclined to put Kamui in the same position as Obsidian, though not with the same level of respect. As for Lambda, she presented a lot of her own ideas, but she pulled more resistance out of True Heart. So, Vincent has a feeling that he exists in a very special place that may not be completely understood or helped, but people try . . . Again, a sort of slight acceptance, though less than Kamui.
Lambda also pulled a lot of resistance from Elliot which was more bringing issues to the forefront, not necessarily bad but not the way to approach Elliot. So, Vincent may be less sly when it comes to Elliot, because that doesn't work ever, even in a heart game. Kaoru disarmed Elliot enough to get him to talk which helped settle a lot of that situation that was still lingering between Vincent and Elliot on his side. Vincent will probably be more forthright with dealing with Elliot again.
Nunnally could not be stopped and overhauled Yuri's gate at every point. She opened the area, twice over, even!, had the walls scrubbed clean except for one phrase, do not harm, exchanged keep your promise for pleasures of memory, and added a note to Vincent's book for Yuri. So, I . . . Well, Vincent has the best wife ever, I guess?! Vincent will have no reservation about talking with anyone he cares to about Yuri, does not have any distance put between what happened and himself nor does he have any of the self-deluding twists in perspective. As far as it goes, Vincent has shifted blame from himself to Yuri, but he is not languishing over that.
And that should be about it until Nunnally finishes arranging reality to suit her whims—I mean . . .
This will fit into the timeline around Night 269! I will make a comment for when that slides in, but you can fit it in wherever you like around that general span if you need to. Whatever works for everyone. ♥
