You cannot see what is beyond the door, but it smells sour and sharp. Before you can turn over the thought of should you or shouldn't you, if you are the kind, there is a quiet push at your back and through the door you go . . .

Eventually, she will find an entrance into the Great Hall . . . Gilbert tries to shelter her from the wind where he can.

After going up six floors, the key isn't seen in the lock. There is a small ring on the floor, though.

There is a small nub sticking out that looks like it was broken off from something. It's probably half of a key.

It seems that you have found the other half. If you had a fine tool, you would probably be able to pry it out?

That works as well! It takes a few good pushes, but the other half eventually falls out.

[picks it up with a tiny "tch" to fit the key halves together]

It takes a bit of pressure, but like they were meant together, they eventually meld back into a whole key.
